Code- Geass thoughts

So recently, I’ve re-watched Code Geass. Well that is to say that I re-watched the first one and then watch two more. When I first saw it, my first thoughts were “What the hell did I just watch” and on the first occasion I knew that this Series would probably have to be something I’d have to watch a lot of to get any storyline or real concept of. I couldn’t have been more right; however the case is that now I have put time aside to watch it I want more… much more. To be quite honest three episodes aren’t really enough to now satisfy the hole in my heart that is now feeling somewhat heartbroken that I haven’t watch more.

Ok, time for a more formal introduction to this series. Code- Geass is a Japanese Anime which unfortunately I could only get in the native language with subtitles. Now describing the storyline is like trying to describe a colour. Imagine for a moment, Doctor Who or Fringe or Merlin or practically any long running deep storyline and now imagine that you merge the entire series into an episode bringing the strings of all episodes into one and then only touching on little bits of what appears to be a very big story. I don’t want to give anything away; therefore the following sentence is going to be rather broad, the main character happens to acquire a certain power which like all powers has certain limitations. He then wishes to use that power to over throw the now leaders of the country which took over Japan two years ago to us and 7 years ago to the story.

This storyline seems somewhat strange and almost typical in places well as typical as let’s say an American War film. However typical the foundations of the story are, the story built up from the foundation is a gold mansion. However you can only take a peek into every room once an episode and there is this little thought in the back of your mind that thinks the last room will be the sweetest most amazing room of them all. Unfortunately I can’t tell you if it is however what I can tell you is that every single time the Main Character uses his power I feel like crying like a little girl which makes me wonder about the rest of Anime. There was something I was going to write up there, but I’ll say it here instead –I don’t know how… and I didn’t see this coming although I should have, but this story links in with a School.

There appears to be something almost semi-typical about the English view on Anime that immediately says, School girls in short skirts and that practically every story links in with a bunch of students in a School. I do have a mini-theory on this because of the nature of these series it makes me wonder if every Japanese Anime really is a bunch of stoned, high students in some crack den that are slurring, blurting out lines, recording the results and then drawing the storyboards still on the rainbow train. You would probably think it with some of the lines that get past the censorship shield that our government would immediately scream “After 9pm” (which thanks to Ofcom Two Broke girls will probably never air over in Sunny Old England) I don’t quite know why the line “Nice Rack” made me blurt out a shriek of laughter and “Stop hitting me” made want to chop the hands of the writer who cleverly wrote that line in to the script.

Ok time to end this with one line.

Watch it, Watch it Now!
